Heritage Hackathon

On October 17 & 18th, WK Students attended the Canadian Association of Heritage Planners “Heritage Hackathon” conference and completed a heritage skill-building challenge. Students had tours of the Millennium Centre and the Gregg Building (both heritage buildings) and then were tasked with creating a solution for repurposing the buildings.

Students involved were: Ella Spence, Jordan Dearsley, Preston King, Krishma Sohdi and Zoey Santos.

By attending the event, students had the opportunity to see how “heritage is a social and economic force, debate sensitive additions to historic places and heritage districts, get empowered at heritage advocacy sessions, and attend partnership lessons for better protecting Indigenous heritage.”
