Cushions of Hope

WK students partnered with River Ridge Retirement Residence on a project called “Cushions of Hope”. We used plastic shopping bags to create sleeping mats for the homeless!

The project was a win win! Sustainably, we kept plastic bags out of the landfill; instead we used them to create a much needed item! Even better, we were able to spend time alongside the seniors of our community working on this wonderful project.

This partnership led to other intergenerational projects that the students and seniors were able to work on together. Some examples include: Picasso Art Projects, painting rocks for Breast Cancer Awareness and the Poppy Blanket Project.
