Our Wolverine Special Olympics Squad headed out to the U of W on Thursday, November 8 for their first tournament of the year. The day began with the Special Olympics athlete oath, “Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.” Soon after, our four teams hit the turf for an exciting day of soccer.
Our Wolverines faced off against teams from Glenlawn, Steinbach, Beausejour, Elmwood, Grant Park and our own neighbours, Garden City Collegiate. Adam and Iladeya both shared that they love soccer and had so much fun. Mathew said he loves how Special O helps him work on his people skills.
Head coaches Hlady and Scarlett, as well as our excellent staff of assistant coaches (our wonderful educational assistants), are all so proud of our athletes’ spirit and participation. Much thanks go out to our photographer Angel, our manager Brendan, and our school leadership volunteers.
At the next event, our team will show off their skills on the basketball court!
