The West K Fishing Club began last year. This year, club membership increased and more fishing adventures were added. Students and staff meet on a regular basis at lunch to discuss their shared passion for fishing. Lunch hour sessions have included knot tying skills, filleting skills, and general information related to the sport of fishing. In the fall, students took two trips to the banks of the Red River inside the city in their pursuit of Master Anglers. A new addition this year was our ‘hard water’ trip in January to Lockport. In June, students and staff travelled to Lockport again for some excellent fishing and a wind-up on the shores of the Red River. Club members would like to thank Mr. Kowalchuk, Cabelas, ProAm Tackle, and David Obirek of the Selkirk Journal for their support of our program this year! New members are always welome. As always, be ready, tips up, and set that hook!
