On Friday March 23rd, Accounting students attended the State of City Address. Mayor Brian Bowman discussed future entrepreneurship developments that would impact Winnipeg’s future. One of his announcements included a plan to make Winnipeg more technology friendly. The plan is to add 150 free WiFi spots all around the city. This was a huge networking event for these students as they met business professionals working in both the private and public sector. This helped our students to see the positive outcomes of how business is growing in our city. Students networked with sales managers and CEO’s representing a variety of companies such as Manitoba Hydro, the Chamber of Commerce and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Certified Professional Accountants from all over the city attended and personally met with our students to share their career stories.
In the afternoon, our students attended a meet and greet with the Mayor. This was a valuable networking opportunity for the students and gave them a career perspective of what business opportunities are available in Winnipeg. Thank you to MITT for providing us with an opportunity to attend this event.
