West K Cares

Students got to see a holiday performance featuring Sierra Noble today as part of Stuff the Bus, a Winnipeg Harvest initiative to provide food and other necessary items to people in need this holiday season. Many staff members had class competitions to bring in the most items, and some went out into the community with their classes to pick them up. Rooms 104 & 106 ventured out in the community to collect non perishable food items for Winnipeg Harvest. They returned to the school with three car loads full. They would like to thank the neighborhood as well as Broad Street Properties for their generosity. Sierra Noble  and students performed sing along Christmas carols on stage to brighten the holiday spirit of caring. Santa came  to visit us and take pictures and shortly after, students help load the bus with all the collected food items.

In addition to stuffing the Winnipeg Harvest bus, five families received hampers through the Christmas Cheer Board. Overall, the amount of support for this project was astounding!! Special thanks to Tammy Harder and her Civic Leadership class, the West Kildonan Social Justice Group, and all staff and students who contributed their time, effort, and non-perishable food items to show that IN THE SPIRIT OF THE SEASON, WEST K CARES!!
