From birth I have lived with a condition called Generalized Dystonia. Although many are diagnosed with this progressive disorder, it remains widely unheard of. This summer I became an ambassador for the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation Canada with the hope of raising awareness about Dystonia and connecting people, particularly teens, across the country who live with this disorder. With this goal in mind, the foundation asked me to write a short article about my life to feature in their newsletter. I was later given the opportunity to have this article posted on the Maclean’s Magazine website with the hope of further spreading awareness.
I am truly humbled by the support I have already received and want to thank each and every one of you for your continued interest and effort to spread the word. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to talk to me. I welcome the conversation!
