WE Day October 25th
45 students from WK had the opportunity to attend WE Day this year, held on October 25th at the MTS Bell Centre. This annual event hosts about 16,000 students from over 400 schools across Manitoba,—who earned their tickets to the concert event through volunteerism—gathered to hear speakers and performers such as as George Takei, Panicland, Jully Black, Kerry Kennedy, Kenyan Boys Choir and Tyler Shaw.
“We’re honoured to celebrate with young change-makers from Generation We, who have earned their way to We Day by taking action on local and global issues,” said Craig Kielburger, co-founder of We. “Today, We Day Manitoba will unite hard-working students and educators as they experience a day of inspiration, while celebrating their incredible achievements in service.”
One such individual is WK’s own grade 12 student Victor Selby who was called up on stage at WE Day and presented with Manitoba’ s FIRST EVER ‘Gen WE Award’ for all the work he did with Slam and Civic Leadership last year. Congratulations Victor!
